Finally :)

October 22, 2007 at (Bits of Nostalgia, Children...I love., Random, the J! way)

After the long wait and all the stress-filled days, midterm is finally over. I can’t believe that in one and a half semester, I will be graduating! I just have to focus (and pray) more to maintain my average to get into that concurrent program at York, which reminds me, I have to start my application as early as now. Anyway, I am taking advantage of the luxuries of study week. Since I am done with all my midterm requirements, study week is a time for me to relax, do things that I’ve been looking forward to (such as writing entries in my blog and updating my multiply account, cleaning (oh yes!), to sleep in and to indulge myself watching movies, internet-ing, reading books and doing my devos in a timely manner). That’s a long list and I am squishing them all this week as I am well aware of all the requirements I have to do for the next half of the semester.

Since I haven’t updated my blog for ages, here are some updates:

We had our first ever J.Crew Camp last September, before school started. And guess what, I am the head of the kitchen crew and I have to feed 15 pre-teens for two days without any kitchen on site, just grilling. Kinda like Survivor. Hehe. And to think, I don’t usually cook, I mean I know how to cook rice with a rice cooker, fry eggs, season, fry and bake chicken, beef and pork and umm… steam vegetables and… that’s it. Although I obviously lack cooking skills, I survived and was able to feed them all. Special thanks to my lovely assistants who patiently helped me turn on the propane gas, move tables to have our designated “kitchen,” wash dishes though the sink is a 10 minute walk from the campsite and they have to walk in the dark. I can’t thank you enough. Love you TRIO! =)

My family moved to a new house three weeks ago (this I would say is the highlight of the month- and I have my own room ! Exciting! I have enough space now to store my ECE stuff which is taking up so much space in my room right now). Our new place is not that far from our old place, but I have to bus to go to work.

Yup, studying and working (the job I had last summer) at the same time. At first, it was really stressful, but I am coping pretty well now.

I have encountered children of all sorts over the past two months. I am doing two full-day placements this semester; both Toddlers and Junior Preschoolers. My first day in the centre was really interesting, the Senior Preschoolers started to ask me random questions that left me thinking. One question made me laugh so hard, a girl asked me if I am in still in High School Musical.

My countdown is almost over, in less than a month, our family will be reunited. Woohoo! Good times.

I am turning 21 in four days! And my family abandoned me. Kidding. Hehe. Both my parents are in the Philippines, my youngest sister is going to Hamilton for Acquire the Fire, a youth event, and my oldest sister is kind enough to stay with me as I celebrate my 21st birthday at work, with my daycare children. Yey! At 21, I am throwing a children’s party! J  Hehe.

That’s it for now =)
